Summary of Water Quality

Core water parameters (pH, dissolved oxygen, conductivity, turbidity) are all within acceptable range for contact recreation in both the Blanco River at RMR Park and Lone Man Creek at confluence w/ Blanco R.  Specific data are available upon request.  There is much bacteria in both water bodies.  However E. Coli specifically (the only bacteria reported to the state) has been in a range of 60-100 colonies per 100 ml.  The EPA limit for contact recreation is 390 colonies per 100 ml.  However with any natural body of water it would be advisable to shower and use "Swim-Ear" or isopropanol in ears after swimming. (This recurring report is provided by Margaret Baker).

Cattle Guard Installed at the Water Park Entrance

Installation of a cattle guard at the entrance to the RMR Blanco River Water Park has been completed. The purpose of the cattle guard is to prevent the cattle, that graze within RMR, from getting into the park and/or into the river as well as preventing an unsafe condition with children in the same area as the cattle.

June 2010

Alerts from Hays County Sheriff's Office

Subject: Home Invasion/Break-in in the Falconwood Subdivision (on RR12 south of the Junction):

The following was reported and occurred at approximately 3 PM on 14 June 2010 in the San Marcos/Wimberley Area:  Burglary:  Falconwood subdivision on Falconwood Drive:  Two children who were home alone heard knocking on the front door and observed a female at the front door.  Both children hid in a closet and heard a noise when the back door was kicked in.  They then heard a male and female voice inside the residence. They had already called their mother and 911 and mother contacted a neighbor who observed a gray colored, possibly an Astro Van in the driveway. The neighbor drove to the house and began honking his horn and a female and male got into the van which had no license plates and they drove away.  The subjects were either hispanic or caucasian and no other description was given.  Stolen from the residence were camera equipment and a laptop computer.

One of these children was a teenager and did the right thing by not opening the door to strangers.  Please alert your children to follow the same actions that he took.

I-35 Frontage Roads in Buda, Kyle Area will be One Way Beginning May 4 (Frontage roads from north of FM 1626 to FM 2001 affected)

Hays County Courthouse, San Marcos, TX – The Hays County Commissioners Court has been advised by the Texas Department of Transportation that the I-35 frontage roads in Precinct 2 from just north of FM 1626 to FM 2001 will be converted to one way beginning May 4.

TxDOT has moved up its plan to convert these roads to one way to facilitate improvements already in progress. Those improvements include a new bridge with separate turnaround lanes to carry CR 210 over I-35 and completing gaps in the existing frontage roads between CR 210 (Kyle Crossing), FM 1626 (Kyle Parkway) and FM 150 (downtown Kyle). Also underway are improvements to Overpass Road and FM 2001 in Buda as well as a realignment of FM 150 east of I-35 affecting motorists in both Precinct 1 and 2.

For details and updates, please go to the Hays County Precinct 2 home page at www.haysroads.org.

Repairs Completed to River Mountain Road

**Someone has stolen about half of our safety cones and one of our "Loose Gravel" signs, so please remember to drive carefully on River Mountain Road**

Repair of potholes and chip-sealing of River Mountain Road has been completed.

The POA Board asks all residents and guests to please watch their speed and drive cautiously on River Mountain Road at all times but especially in the newly repaired sections. There is some "loose gravel" on the road as a result of the chip-sealing that will dissipate when sufficient vehicle traffic has traveled over the new surface. Warning signs and traffic cones were placed to warn drivers when entering one of the repaired sections.

Paved Area in Water Park Extended

The chip sealed section of the road in our Blanco River Water Park was extended approximately 300 feet as part of the road repairs completed in 2010. The extension of the paved area should alleviate problems with washouts on the park road.

RMR Water Park Clean-Up

The RMR Blanco River Water Park was cleaned up on Saturday, 1 May, from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Thanks to all of the volunteers that assisted.
