Neighborhood & Firewise Community Project

The RMRPOA Board has listened to the opinions of the property owners (both in emails and at the Summer Meeting) and has dropped planning for a security gate. As an alternative, it has been proposed by one of our RMR residents that a combination Neighborhood Watch Program (NWP) coupled with the Firewise Community Program be utilized as an alternative. The concept would be to use these combined programs to promote both security and fire protection. As part of this project, some of the potential ideas that could be implemented are: installation of security cameras near our inner gate and at the park gate, identification of additional exits out of RMR, and development and implementation of an Evacuation Plan for RMR in the event of a major fire or other natural disaster. Additional information concerning Firewise Communities can be obtained at their website, www.firewise.org. If you are interested in working on this project, please contact Margaret Baker, Parks & Firewise Chair, 847-3821. Thanks.

RMRPOA Board Elects New President

Jim Wheat was elected by the RMRPOA Board members to be President of the POA during an Emergency Meeting on Saturday, 21 June. This action was required due to the resignation of Mack Peterson from the RMRPOA Board on 20 June. There is now a vacancy on the RMRPOA Board. Any POA members who would like to serve the RMR community should contact any of the Board members to express their interest (please see Board page for contact numbers and email addresses).

RMRPOA May-June 2008 Newsletter

The May-June 2008 Newsletter was sent to the POA membership during early June. A copy of the newsletter can be found in .pdf format at this link: May-June 08 Newsletter.

RMR Fire Protection Water Tank

Installation of the 20,000 gallon Fire Protection Water Tank system was completed on 12 May 2008 and become available for use by the Wimberley Fire Department. For insurance purposes, it is called a "water source" and is for the exclusive use of the Wimberley Fire Department. The tank has an underground waterline that runs to within 10 feet of the road where a 2 1/2 inch fire department connection is located. The WFD has installed a Knox lock (fire department controlled lock) on the connection.

We took pictures of the project and have developed a slideshow of the project in .wmv format. Please click on this link to play: Water Tank.

The WFD has been very excited about the project and has posted an article on their website along with some of our pictures. The link is:   http://www.wimberleyfire.com/RMRPOA.html

Any POA Members with Large Volume Water Tanks

We are looking for any members that have large volume water tanks (10,000 gallons or more) that would be willing to allow the POA to place a Fire Department Connection. We already have our own 20,000 gallon tank but would be very interested in getting owners that already have water tanks to participate in creating a network of water sources for use during a potential wildfire in our neighborhood. One owner on the northern end of Windmill Run has volunteered his 15,000 gallon tank and we plan on meeting with him and the WFD in the near future to find out what needs to be done to make the water tank usable by the Fire Department. Please contact any Board member if you are interested in participating in this program.
